Its songs were instead released in digital format through the NPG Music Club. High was abandoned to clear way for Prince’s new project The Rainbow Children. The High album was first announced on Prince’s website NPG Online Ltd in August 2000 and planned for release later that year. The remaining track My Medallion was separately available on the NPG Music Club but omitted from the 2004 compilations. U Make My Sun Shine and When Will We B Paid? were High’s only tracks to receive a retail release – U Make My Sun Shine and Supercute were intended as High‘s promotional singles. Two others ( Golden Parachute and The Daisy Chain) were included in the companion release The Slaughterhouse. Of the tracks included in The Chocolate Invasion six were earlier intended for release on an aborted album named High (a completed album of ten tracks at a total running time of 47:12). The song The Dance was later re-worked and the updated version released in 2006 on Prince’s album 3121. The content of just two of the seven planned albums materialised – The Chocolate Invasion as volume 1 and The Slaughterhouse (volume 2), as Prince’s attention turned to his next project, Musicology. Prince hoped to offer all the material of the NPG Music Club as a 7-CD retail set, but that too was abandoned, this time due to manufacturing and logistical difficulties. With his focus turning to recording The Rainbow Children, High instead provided material for his NPG Music Club, half its tracks were later rehomed into the configuration of The Chocolate Invasion.
